Gilroy Named MAC Offensive Player of the Week

Senior scored two goals and had one assist vs. Sacred Heart

OXFORD, Ohio - After racking up two goals and one assist in a single game, Miami University field hockey senior midfielder Elizabeth Gilroy has been named Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

The San Diego, Calif. native scored two goals and had an assist in the RedHawks' 8-1 win over Sacred Heart University on Saturday on the campus of Northwestern University. Gilroy assisted on Courtney Fretz's game-opening goal and then scored back-to-back goals in the 29th and 32nd minute to give Miami a commanding 5-1 lead.

Gilroy leads Miami with eight points on the year with three goals and two assists in four games. The RedHawks have outscored their opponents 20-5 and are 3-1 on the season, having lost to host Northwestern on Friday afternoon, 3-1.

The RedHawks will travel to Mount Pleasant, Mich. this coming weekend for a Friday game against MAC-foe Central Michigan at 2 p.m. and a 1 p.m. Saturday game against Colgate.
