Feb. 7, 2007

OXFORD, Ohio -- Miami University head field hockey coach Jill Reeve announced today the signing of five student-athletes to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period. Midfielders Christine Brightwell, Tricia Clark and Daisha Willis, forward Kaitlyn Snyder and defender Kathryn (KC) Stahlhuth will all begin their careers at Miami University in the fall of 2007.

"This is a very exciting recruiting class for us," said Reeve, who will begin her fourth season at Miami the fall. "We are bringing in some dynamic student-athletes with a lot of experience playing at high levels of competition, who will compete right away, both in the classroom and on the field."

Brightwell will come to Miami from Assumption High School in Louisville, Ky., where she served as her team's captain as a senior and twice earned first-team all-state honors. Assumption advanced to the state semifinals three times during her career, winning a state title her junior year. The 5-foot-4 Brightwell earned team MVP honors as a senior and was a regional all-American. Her older sister, Katie, just completed her freshman season on Miami's field hockey team.

A 5-foot-4 midfielder, Clark is a native of Kirkwood, Mo., and was a First Team All-Metro selection in 2006 at the John Burroughs School. She was her team's captain as a senior and was the leading goal scorer on a team that went 13-5 and advanced to the state semifinals. An all-America nominee as a senior, she also is a two-time first-team all-conference performer in soccer and will serve as her soccer team's captain this spring.

Snyder is the lone forward in this year's recruiting class and captained her team at Wyoming Seminary to a state title in 2006. The second-team all-state selection helped her team to an undefeated season and was fifth in scoring in the Wyoming Valley Conference. A native of Trucksville, Pa., the 5-foot-3 Snyder has competed at the National Field Hockey Festival four times and competed at the Keystone State Games in 2006.

A native of St. Louis, Mo., Stahlhuth is a 5-foot-4 defender who will begin her career at Miami after earning three varsity letters at Mary Institute Country Day School. A two-time First Team All-Metro selection, she was her team's captain in 2006 and was an all-America nominee as both a junior and senior. She was named her team's top defensive player on three occasions and also served as the captain of her school's lacrosse team.

The third midfielder in the group, Willis is a native of Glassboro, N.J. and earned three letters in field hockey at Glassboro High School. She captained her high school team as a senior and helped lead Glassboro to a sectional championship. A first-team all-conference selection, she was named her school's athlete of the year in addition to earning her team's defensive player of the year award. The 5-foot-2 Willis earned Second Team All-South Jersey honors as a senior.
