WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue seniors Kelly Komara and Laura Meadows will take part in the 2002 WNBA Pre-Draft Camp to be held at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago from April 12 to 13. They are two of 80 players confirmed to attend.
In store for the newly departed Boilermakers are two full-day sessions broken into two parts. The morning session on both days will include stretching and free shooting, followed by drills, position work and half-court games. Full-court games will take place during the evening sessions, which both will run for five hours.
Komara, a 5-foot-7 guard, was the 2002 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and a first team all-conference selection. The Kodak all-district honoree averaged 12.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 4.0 steals per game for the Big Ten champion Boilermakers.
Meadows, a 6-foot-3 forward, averaged 9.7 points and a team-high 7.0 rebounds per game. She also averaged 3.3 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.1 blocked shots per game in her lone season at Purdue.
Other Big Ten players confirmed to attend the camp are Rashana Barnes of Penn State, Tomeka Brown of Ohio State, Heather Cassady and Jill Chapman of Indiana, Alayne Ingram of Michigan, Lindsey Meder of Iowa, and Tamara Moore and Jessie Stomski of Wisconsin.
The 2002 WNBA Draft will be held Friday, April 19 beginning at 10:30 a.m. EST. The Seattle Storm owns the first pick of the Draft, followed by the Detroit Shock and the Washington Mystics.
Training camps for the 16 league teams will begin on Monday, April 29.
