Cullowhee, N.C. - The Western Carolina University Department of Athletics will assist the Jackson County Christmas Store this Thursday (Dec. 9), when the Catamount men's basketball team hosts Atlanta Christian, and this Saturday (Dec. 11), when the Lady Cats host SoCon rival Furman.

In an attempt to bring as much holiday joy to as many area children as possible, Western asks that fans bring an unwrapped toy or a package of socks to the games. Those who participate will get two free tickets to the see the Catamounts and Chargers on Thursday, which is set to tip-off at 7 pm, or the Lady Cats and Paladins on Saturday, which is set to begin at 5 pm.

Fans that bring an unwrapped toy to the WCU men's game versus Atlanta Christian (Dec. 9) and/or the women's game versus Furman (Dec. 11) will get two free tickets to the respective game.

The Jackson County Christmas Store is in its 17th year of service for local families who need assistance with Christmas gifts for their children. In addition to bringing a gift to games, Jackson County residents can sponsor a child for $50 by purchasing $30 worth of new gifts and $20 worth of clothing items (including socks and underwear as suggested by the mother). The Christmas Store will provide a card with relevant information for each child and those willing to assist will return those gifts to the Christmas Store.

The Christmas Store is located at the Baptist Student Center on Western Carolina campus and will be open Dec. 7-17.
