Aggies Fall To Cardinal, 62-41

Paige Minton scores 14 points to lead UC Davis against Stanford.

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) -- Candice Wiggins scored 19 points in helping No. 6 Stanford beat UC Davis 62-41 on Sunday for its fifth straight win.

Jayne Appel added 17 points and a game-high eight rebounds for the Cardinal (7-1).

Paige Minton scored 14 points to lead the Aggies (5-1), who are in their first official season as a Division I team.

Thanks to eight Stanford turnovers in the first 7 minutes, the Aggies were able to stay with Stanford. Wiggins hit two consecutive 3-pointers to start the Cardinal offense. Wiggins made half of her 10 3-point tries.

Aggies starter Haylee Donaghe is the older sister of Stanford freshman Hannah Donaghe. Haylee was 3-of-14 from the floor for nine points while Hannah missed her five attempts.

The Cardinal outrebounded UC Davis, 38-25.

Stanford led 32-15 at halftime.
