CANYON, Texas - West Texas A&M University women’s basketball coach Krista Gerlich has announced the signing of one student-athlete to a national letter-of-intent to attend WTAMU and play for the Lady Buffs during the 2009-10 season.
Callie Schniederjan, a 5-5 guard from Dalhart, Texas (High), earned first-team all-District honors and was an Amarillo Globe-News Super Team member in 2007 and 2008. She was selected to the USA Junior National team in 2007 and was a member of the West Texas Lady Bulls select team last year. Schniederjan also earned TABC all-region honors in 2008. Last season, she averaged 13.5 points per game and shot 44.6% from the field. Schniederjan also lettered in volleyball and track and field at Dalhart.
“Callie is a multi-talented guard who is a tremendous athlete,” said head coach Krista Gerlich. “She is a three sport athlete in high school and is very successful at all three. Callie will give us immediate athleticism in our full court defenses while getting to the rim and shooting the three on offense. I’m excited to add an athlete of Callie’s caliber to our team.”
The Lady Buffs recorded a 96-48 win in their first game of the regular season against Huston-Tillotson. WT will travel to Alamosa, Colo. for the Adams State Bankers Tournament beginning on Friday, Nov. 21 at 2:00 p.m.
