Villanova Announces 2008-0 Women's Basketball Schedule

Wildcats have 14 home dates on the schedule this season


Villanova will travel to the U.S. Virgin Island in November to take part in the Paradise Jam tournament during the Thanksgiving break.

2008-09 Villanova Women's Basketball Schedule

VILLANOVA, Pa.-- Villanova University Director of Athletics Vince Nicastro today announced the 2008-09 Wildcat women's basketball schedule. The Wildcats will play a 29-game schedule, including 16 Big East Conference contests and four Philadelphia Big Five match-ups.

The 2008-09 campaign tips-off on Friday, Nov. 14 with a home contest versus Big Five rival LaSalle. Following the opener, the Wildcats will play at Fairfield on Nov. 17 and at Penn on Nov. 19. Villanova will spend Thanksgiving in the Virgin Islands as part of the Paradise Jam Tournament. In the tournament, the Wildcats will face Wisconsin (Nov. 27), Baylor (Nov. 28) and Central Florida (Nov. 29).

December begins with a Big Five battle at Saint Joseph's on Dec. 4. Due to construction at the Saint Joseph Fieldhouse, the game will be played at Philadelphia University. The team will return home on Dec. 7 to host Lehigh before traveling to Binghamton on Dec. 10. Villanova will begin a four-game homestand on Dec. 20 against Temple and continue with dates against Delaware (Dec. 22), Sacred Heart (Dec. 28) and Monmouth (Dec. 31). Villanova's last non conference game will be played on Jan. 21 when the Wildcats travel to Washington, D.C. to take on George Washington.

In Big East play, Villanova will play each conference opponent once with the exception of Providence who the Wildcats will play home and home. Villanova will host Notre Dame, Rutgers, DePaul, St. John's, South Florida, West Virginia and Louisville and will travel to Seton Hall, Georgetown, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Providence, Cincinnati and Marquette. The Big East opener will be on Jan. 3 when the Wildcats play at Cincinnati.
