BLOOMINGTON, Ind.-- Cyndi Valentin has been selected to compete with the Puerto Rican National team that will play at the 2005 FIBA Americas Championships from Sept. 14-18 in the Dominican Republic.

"I am really excited to go," Valentin said. " I have never been to Canada or the Dominican Republic. It should be a great experience. I am looking forward to playing hard and winning some games over there."

Valentin, who was already overseas in Belgium and Holland earlier in the summer with the Big Ten Foreign Tour Team, will leave for Canada on Sunday to begin practice with Puerto Rico. The team will practice and scrimmage the Canadian National team before heading to the Dominican Republic.

The FIBA AMERICAS (Pan-American Basketball Confederation) is a non-profit organization that represents the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), in the American continent, with jurisdiction from Canada to Argentina.
