BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University women's basketball coach Larry Tidwell announced the addition of Jenna Plumley to the Lady Cardinals basketball team today.
Plumley, a 5-4 guard from Red Rock, Okla. comes to Lamar after two strong seasons at Oklahoma. She started 41 games in her career, averaging 6.5 points 2.7 assists per game in 63 games played. As a sophomore she stared all 31 games for OU, passing out 107 assists and led the Sooners in 3-pointers made and attempted, knocking down 64-of-202 from behind the arc.
Last season Plumley guided OU to a 22-9 record and the second round of the NCAA Tournament. After starting 10 of the final 11 games of her freshman year she helped the Sooners to a 28-5 record and a trip to the NCAA Regional Semifinal.
Plumley enjoyed a prolific high school career as she led Frontier HS to a 110-12 record and a pair of Oklahoma state championships as a four-year starter. She averaged 24.3 points, 8.3 assists and six steals per game as a senior and was named MVP of the state tournament in 2003 and 2005.
"Adding a player of this magnitude is a definite plus for Lady Cardinals basketball," Tidwell said. "Jenna brings a work ethic package that is second to none. Although she is going to have to sit out for a year, her presence is going to be felt in practice. She plays to win."
Due to NCAA transfer rules Plumley will be required to sit out the 2008-09 season. She will be eligible to play for Lamar beginning with the 2009-10 season.
