Elizabeth Cansdale joins the Redhawks coaching staff after one year at Tulsa

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO – (Thursday, July 17, 2008) – Redhawks women’s basketball coach John Ishee has announced the addition of Elizabeth Cansdale to his coaching staff for the upcoming season. Cansdale rounds out the coaching staff that includes fellow assistants Chris Harris and Angela Lewis.

Cansdale was a graduate assistant coach at Tulsa last season where she served as the video coordinator for the Golden Hurricanes. She will resume those duties at Southeast as well as assist the team by planning and arranging travel arrangements, conduct film exchange, handle various administrative duties, recruiting and coaching.

A four-year letterwinner at Ole Miss where she played from 2001-2005, she helped lead the Lady Rebels to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in her junior and senior seasons. She averaged 4.3 points per game over her career that saw her play in 89 games including 14 starts. Cansdale tallied 384 career points, including 85 of 239 three-point attempts for a percentage of .357. She completed her career ranked third on the school's all-time three-pointers made per game list, knocking in a career-best six against both Mississippi State and Vermont. Cansdale also registered 107 rebounds during her collegiate career.

Her senior season she averaged a career-best 7.4 ppg as she led the Lady Rebels in three pointers made (50) and attempts (134). She played in all 29 games including 13 starts.

A native of Las Vegas, Nevada, Cansdale served as the Girl's Varsity Assistant Coach and Girl's Freshman Head Coach at her alma mater Bishop Gorman High School. She led the freshman squad to a two-year 26-2 record, and helped the varsity post a 62-3 mark in that same time. The varsity was ranked 17th-nationally by USA Today, as well as ranked as the top team in the state of Nevada, and won back-to-back class 4A State Championships in 2006 and 2007.

As a prep she averaged 20.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, 5.1 steals and 2.9 assists as a senior and was named Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Nevada. She earned All-State first team honors both her junior and senior seasons. She finished her career as the school record holder for career points by scoring over 1,400 points.

In 2005, Cansdale received her bachelor's degree in business administration from Mississippi.
