PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle University Women’s Basketball team has announced its non-conference schedule for the upcoming season and a team that will have just one senior will be tested early. In the Explorers first seven games, they will face at least three teams that advanced to postseason tournaments last year and could face five teams with a final RPI of 105 or better.

La Salle will open with a road contest at Villanova (final RPI 77), which advanced to the third round of the WNIT last year, on Friday, November 14 and then will come back to Tom Gola Arena on Sunday for its home opener against Long Island (92), November 16 – a team that lost in the Northeast Championship contest.

Two home dates with Colonial Athletic Association teams Delaware – Wednesday, November 19, and Drexel – Saturday, November 22, precedes a week-long road trip for the Explorers.

La Salle will head out to face Mid-American Conference Champion and NCAA participant Miami (OH) (60) on Tuesday, November 25, before heading to the West Coast to take part in the St. Mary’s Thanksgiving Classic in Moraga, California. The pairings are not set yet, but St. Mary’s (127) has also invited 2008 WNIT teams Indiana (73) and Radford (105) to the tournament, taking place Friday and Saturday, November 28 and 29.

After that, the Explorers will not face another team that advanced to a postseason tournament before it gets into the Atlantic 10 portion of its schedule – but five teams fit that bill – George Washington, Temple and Xavier (NCAA) and Charlotte and Dayton (WNIT).

La Salle will host six non-conference games and seven A-10 contests at Tom Gola Arena, which includes the Colonials and the 49ers.

They will take part in one other tournament, as they travel just north to Bethlehem for the Lehigh Tournament on Monday and Tuesday, December 29 and 30. Teams in that event include Valparaiso and North Florida.

Despite just one senior on the roster, La Salle will welcome three new faces and will enjoy the return of three players who each missed more than 20 games last year.

Times for all games, as well as dates and times for conference games will be released at a later date. To see the schedule click here or click on the pdf attachment at the top.
