McNeese Cowboy/Cowgirl summer athletic tour began Monday in DeRidder

Next stop is Lafayette on Wednesday and then Jennings on Thursday

McNeese State kicked off its summer athletic tour in DeRidder on Monday.

Now the tour continues on Wednesday in Lafayette at the Petroleum Club and Thursday in Jennings at the Jeff Davis Parish Fair Grounds Multipurose Building.

The following week the tour will be in Basile on June 23 at the Basile High School, on June 25 in Lake Charles at the Civic Center and on June 26 in Houston at Minute Maid park.

The purpose of the tour is to bring the McNeese athletic program to fans and supporters of the Cowboys and the Cowgirls in the Southwest Louisiana and Southeast Texas areas.

Coaches from all sports give a brief talk about their respective sports. Also members of the athletic administration is on hand to talk about season tickets, facilities and booster club memberships.

The event is free to all and refreshments and door prizes are provided as well as schedule cards and posters for the upcoming seasons.

More than 100 attended Monday's kickoff tour in DeRidder. The event was held at the Beauregard Country Club.
