Heidi VanDerveer was named head women's basketball coach at Occidental College.

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State women's basketball head coach Beth Burns announced Thursday the departure of associate head coach Heidi VanDerveer. VanDerveer, who joined the Aztecs for the 2007-08 season, was named the head women's basketball coach at Occidental College in Los Angeles, Calif.

"We're happy for Heidi that she has a head coaching opportunity," Burns said. "We appreciate the commitment she made to Aztec basketball and wish her great success."
