Purdue Starting Guard Hurts Shoulder
Howell leaves game with shoulder in sling
March 26, 2007
DALLAS (AP) -Purdue starting guard Jodi Howell had her left shoulder in a sling after the Boilermakers' 78-65 victory over Georgia in an NCAA regional semifinal Sunday night.
Howell apparently got hurt in a scramble for a loose ball early in the second half that left her on the floor under a couple of other players. She got up on her own, but never returned.
The extent of Howell's injury wasn't clear.
"I'm not sure," Boilermakers coach Sharon Versyp said. "It doesn't look great, doesn't look awful. We'll see what the doctor says."
The Boilermakers play North Carolina in the Dallas Regional final Tuesday night.
Howell played only 6 minutes, 4 before halftime, with two points. She averaged more than 21 minutes and 6.9 points per game before Sunday.
