The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team will be a part of post season play as they were selected to participate in the 2007 Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT). It's the second year in a row and the fourth time in school history that the Cowgirls have made it in to the WNIT.

The Cowgirls opening game, presented by Laramie GM Auto Center, is scheduled for Thursday, March 15, in the Arena Auditorium against the Nevada Wolf Pack beginning at 7:00 p.m. Wyoming and Nevada faced off earlier this season at the Coors Classic in Boulder, Colo. The Cowgirls came away with an 80-71 victory.

"We are extremely pleased to participate in the WNIT," said Head Coach Joe Legerski. "It's a tribute to all of the hard work and accomplishments of this season for our players. This is the first time that a Wyoming team has been to post season play in back to back seasons which is a great accomplishment. The ability to host a game also shows the commitment of the Wyoming fans to this program."

Wyoming finished the regular season with an overall mark of 21-9 and 11-5 in the Mountain West Conference. Junior Hanna Zavecz earned First Team All-MWC honors, while Justyna Podziemska was named to the Second Team and the Newcomer of the Year.

Tickets for the game will go on sale at this site and in the Wyoming ticket office Tuesday morning. Prices are $9.00 for adults, $5.00 for students and a youth ticket. All seating is general admission.

Last season, Megan McGuffey and the Cowgirls defeated Oregon State in a home WNIT game, 67-49, before falling to Nebraska in Lincoln.
