OLEAN, N.Y. (AP) -Dana Mitchell and Katelyn Murray scored 14 points each to help St. Bonaventure beat No. 14 George Washington 63-60 on Saturday for the Bonnies' first victory ever over a ranked opponenent.
Cara Gustafson scored the final three points for St. Bonaventure to seal the victory and end a 26-game losing streak to the Colonials. St. Bonaventure (17-9, 5-6, Atlantic-10) entered the game 1-31 against their conference rival, with the Bonnies' only win, a 58-56 victory at Olean, coming on Feb. 23, 1989.
The victory set a new single-season school record for St. Bonaventure.
Sarah-Jo Lawrence scored 20 points for the Colonials (20-4, 8-2), who had a six-game win streak snapped. George Washington, which trailed by as many as 21 points in the first half, fell short of completing a remarkable comeback.
Whitney Allen put back her own miss to put the Colonials up 58-57 with 4:28 remaining to cap a 23-5 run. It was George Washington's second lead of the game, after they opened the scoring.
The Bonnies responded. With the game tied at 60, Gustafson put St. Bonaventure ahead for good when she hit a free throw after being fouled while making a baseline drive.
Gustafson missed her second attempt, but the Bonnies regained possession when the ball went out of bounds off the fingers of Colonials forward Jessica Adair.
Gustafson, who finished with only seven points, then scored the final points when she drove the paint and hit a pull-up jumper.
The Colonials failed to score on their final four possessions, with their last chance coming when Kimberly Beck had an awkward 3-point attempt hit the side of the rim in the final seconds.

Beck, who finished with 12 points and seven assists, returned after an illness forced her to sit out George Washington's 69-45 win at Massachusetts on Wednesday.
