ANN ARBOR (www.hofstra.edu/Athletics)- After dropping four of the first five matches, Hofstra senior James Strouse's 6-3 victory over Jeff Marsh in the final match of the night capped a furious comeback and gave the third-ranked Hofstra Pride an 18-18 tie with the 11th-ranked Wolverines of Michigan at Cliff Keen Arena Saturday night. The Pride improve to 7-0-1 on the season while Michigan's record stands at 1-1-1.In a contest that featured three top 20 match-ups, the Wolverines jumped to the early 15-3 lead after five matches. In the opening match at 165, Michigan's 5th-ranked senior Eric Tannenbaum edged Hofstra's 4th-ranked senior Mike Patrovich 3-1. Tannenbaum had a takedown in the first and an escape in the second and held off Patrovich for the victory. At 174, UM's 8th-ranked junior Steve Luke recorded two escapes to post a 2-0 win over Hofstra's 12th-ranked sophomore Alton Lucas. After Michigan's 4th-ranked Tyrel Todd pinned Hofstra freshman Rich Muzikar in 1:48 at 184 pounds for a 12-0 lead, Pride senior Chris Weidman, ranked third, put Hofstra on the board with a 9-8 victory on the riding time point at 197. Michigan senior Omar Maktabi boosted the Wolverine lead to 15-3 at the halftime with a 3-1 sudden death victory on a takedown 34 seconds into the extra period.
