MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine University administrators announced today that all classes, activities and athletic practices will resume as scheduled on Wednesday, Oct. 24. Kanan Road leading to Pacific Coast Highway will be the only access road opened at this time. Those traveling from off-campus are advised to check the internet for further transportation announcements.

"I would like to thank all the student-athletes, coaches and staff for their cooperation and professionalism during this time. We are all very grateful to the firefighters, emergency crews and law enforcement, who so diligently protected our campus and our Malibu friends and neighbors from harm's way. The countless hours and energy that were spent containing this fire will be remembered by all of our Pepperdine community. Our athletic department's thoughts and prayers are with the members of our community who have suffered losses over the past few days and for all of the state's residents who continue to be plagued by the Southern California fires," said Pepperdine University Athletic Director John Watson.

UC Davis-Pepperdine Men's Water Polo Game Cancelled

UC Davis was originally scheduled to face Pepperdine on Friday night as part of the campus's Homecoming Festivities... However, the Waves had their Sunday Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game with California postponed due to the recent fires in Malibu... As a result, Friday's UC Davis-Pepperdine game has been cancelled so that the Waves may fulfill their conference obligations with the Golden Bears.

The Aggies now only have a single game slated for the upcoming weekend, a Sunday afternoon matchup with UC Santa Cruz... The Banana Slugs, No. 6 in the national Division III poll, holds a 7-14 overall record and a 5-5 ledger in Western Water Polo Association play... They were last in action in a 12-8 loss at Santa Clara on October 14.

Fires Cause Cancellation of Chapman Events

ORANGE, Calif. - Poor weather, unhealthful air quality and thousands of evacuations from this week's Southern California fires have caused the cancellation of two road games for Chapman University's fall sports teams.

The Panthers' women's volleyball team was scheduled to travel to Point Loma Nazarene University for a match on Tuesday night, while the women's soccer team had planned to drive to Riverside to face La Sierra University on Tuesday. No makeup dates have been announced.
