Ken Shibuya Joins Men's Volleyball Coaching Staff

Ken Shibuya joins the Stanford men's volleyball coaching staff as an assistant coach announced head coach John Kosty.

"We're very excited to have Ken join the program," said Kosty. "He will be a valuable addition to our staff."

Shibuya has over 18 years of experience as a collegiate volleyball coach, most recently having served as the head men's coach at Juniata College since 2002. He led his squad to the Division III National Championship in 2004, 2005 and 2006. He produced 10 AVCAQ All-America award winners since '04 and successfully groomed two National AVCA Players of the Year ('04 and '05).

Before his coaching stint at Juniata College, Shibuya served as the head women's volleyball coach at Christopher Newport University from 1998-2002 where he piloted the team to an undefeated conference season in 2001. From 1994-1996 he headed the Sweet Briar College women's volleyball program. Before that, he was an assistant coach with the University of Virginia's women's volleyball program (1990-94) after serving as the Cavalier's head men's coach from 1988-1996.
