ATHENS, Ga. - Five fall tournaments and 14 home dual matches highlight the 2003-04 schedule for the Georgia men's tennis team under the direction of 16-year head coach Manuel Diaz.

The fall slate features five tournaments, with one taking place in Athens, beginning Sept. 12 at the Napa Valley Challenge hosted by California in Napa Valley, Calif. This will mark the second consecutive year the Bulldogs will participate in the West Coast even. The Bulldogs begin play in Athens Sept. 19 with the Southern Intercollegiate Championship. Georgia has hosted the Southern Intercollegiate Championship, which was created by former Bulldog head coach Dan Magill and is the oldest and largest fall tournament in the South, for the past 35 years, and the 2003 edition will feature the traditional singles and doubles draws.

October opens with the first Grand Slam event for the Bulldogs, as the Icy Hot/ITA Men's All-American Championship will be at The Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn. Select members of the team will head to Memphis for the ITA Regional Championships Oct. 16-19. Georgia rounds out the 2003 calendar year with the ITA National Indoor Championship in Ann Arbor, Mich., in early November. This marks only the third time the tournament, which features a singles and doubles draw, will be played in the fall.

Georgia opens the New Year by hosting the 2004 SEC Coaches' Indoor Championships.

After playing the early part of the 2003 dual-match season on the road due to the replacement of the six courts at Henry Feild Stadium, the construction of new men's and women's clubhouses and renovations to the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Courts, the Bulldogs will play their first seven dual matches in Athens, including Ohio State (Feb. 1), North Carolina (Feb. 14) and Clemson (Feb. 25).

After a four-match road swing with four SEC West teams, Georgia will have a five-match home stand, including defending SEC Tournament Champion and National Runner-up Vanderbilt on April 4th. The Bulldogs face instate rival Georgia Tech on March 17 in Athens.

This season's conference tournament will take place in Nashville at Vanderbilt, while the NCAA Championships will be held at the University of Tulsa.
