DENVER - The University of Denver men's tennis program reached a program high No. 43 ranking in the latest Fila Collegiate Tennis Rankings released today. Also reaching a career high was junior Adam Holmstrom (Eskilstuna, Sweden), who is ranked No. 19 in singles.
The No. 43 ranking is the highest for DU since turning NCAA Division I in 1998. The Pioneers, led by first-year head coach Danny Westerman, have defeated ranked opponents Texas Tech (No. 44) and New Mexico (No. 65) this season. DU defeated Montana 5-2 in its last action on Sunday, March 4.
Holmstrom moved up one spot from No. 20 to No. 19 in the individual singles rankings. Holmstrom leads the Pioneers with an 8-1 record, including a 3-0 mark against ranked opponents.
The Pioneers travel to Arizona for two matches this weekend. DU plays Memphis on Friday, March 9 at 3 p.m. before playing Arizon on Saturday, March 10 at 10 a.m.
