QUEENS, N.Y. - A pair of St. John's defenders have earned BIG EAST weekly honors following a 1-0-1 weekend in which the Red Storm earned a share of the adidas-Brown Soccer Classic Championship. Redshirt senior Rory Quinn was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week and Connor Lade was named to the weekly honor roll.

Quinn anchored a defensive unit that allowed just six shots on goal in a 1-0 win over No. 12/15 Brown and just four shots on goal in a 1-1 draw with No. 2/4 Boston College. Against BC, the redshirt senior defended 2007 NSCAA first team All-American Alejandro Bedoya and held him to just one shot on goal in 110 minutes of play. Quinn played all 200 minutes on the weekend and earned adidas-Brown Soccer Classic All-Tournament honors.

Lade, meanwhile, started both games and played 181 minutes on the weekend. Playing at right back, the freshman helped the St. John's defensive effort as it allowed just one goal in 200 minutes of action. Lade also earned adidas-Brown Soccer Classic All-Tournament accolades.

St. John's (3-0-1) next takes to field against Boston University on Friday, Sept. 12 at 8 p.m. for its 2008 home opener.
