Charlotte, NC - The Charlotte 49ers men's soccer team, who reached the Atlantic 10 Tournament Championship game last season, had two players named to the preseason All-Atlantic 10 teams. Senior forward Chris Salvaggione, who earned first-team All-Atlantic 10 honors last season, was named preseason All-Atlantic 10. While, incoming freshman defender Alexander Dietz was named to the preseason Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team. The preseason All-Atlantic 10 teams were selected by a vote of the league's 14 head coaches.

In 2007, Salvaggione also earned second-team NSCAA/adidas All-Mid-Atlantic Region and North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) University Division All-State honors.

Last season, Salvaggione led the A-10 in assists with nine. He finished the season tied for third in the A-10 with a team-leading eight goals while leading the league in game-winning goals with four. Salvaggione's team-leading 25 points, which was the second highest total in the A-10, is the most points by a 49er in a season since David Hughes amassed 25 points (10 goals and five assists) in 1997. Salvaggione was named A-10 Player of the Week after scoring two goals and contributing an assist in Charlotte's 3-0 win at Central Florida, October 3.

Dietz helped Colorado's Fort Collins High School capture the 2005 5A State championship. He earned all-conference and All-Colorado honors while being named the team MVP in 2005. In 2006, he was again named all-conference, All-Colorado and MVP of the State Cup Finals. He has been a member of the Colorado ODP team since 2004 and has captained the team since 2005. In 2005, he traveled to the Czech Republic with the Region IV ODP Team. He has also been a member of the Colorado Rapids (MLS) Super Y league team as well as the Colorado Rush club team.
