Trafford Signs With Vancouver

Rebel defender returns to his hometown to begin professional career.

Mason Trafford has signed a one-year deal with Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

LAS VEGAS - Mason Trafford, who was a starting defender on the UNLV men's soccer team this past season, has signed a one-year contract with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC of the United Soccer League.

Trafford joins the Whitecaps after spending the past four years as a Rebel, and was started every game of his junior and senior seasons on the defensive backline. In his 65-match career, Trafford made a total of 39 starts, and finished with two goals and four assists for eight points, including one goal and one assist as a senior.

Twice he earned all-conference honors, as he was named Third-Team All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation as a junior, and earned Honorable Mention All-MPSF honors this past year.

Trafford was born in Boynton Beach, Florida, and moved to Vancouver in 1988, where he played his youth soccer with the North Shore Selects. The graduate of Handsworth Secondary School also played for the British Columbia provincial team in 2000 and 2004.
