AMHERST, MA - It was another successful season for former UMass players in Major League Lacrosse, highlighted by league co-MVP and 2004 UMass Hall of Famer Mark Millon. Millon's Boston Cannons fell short of winning it all however, as the Baltimore Bayhawks defeated the Long Island Lizards in the MLL Championship game.
Millon pushed his career point total to 305, thanks to a tremendous offensive season. His 56 points were tops on the Cannons scoring sheet, while his 38 goals were second only to teammate and fellow UMass alum Kevin Leveille. Millon was twice named MLL Player of the Week, leading the Cannons to their second straight American Division title. He finished third in the league in points as well as goals.
Kevin Leveille had a breakthrough season for the Cannons, leading the squad in goals with 39. The All-Star was a dominant force up front for Boston, finishing sixth in the league in points with 51. The attack trio of Leveille, Millon, and Conor Gill provided plenty of offense for Boston, combining for 97 goals and 64 assists.
Former All-American midfielder Chris Fiore had a stellar offensive season as well for the Cannons, registering 22 goals and 10 assists. Fiore appeared in all 12 games, with his 33 points tying for fourth on the team. Fiore made his first career All-Star appearance this season as well.
Midfielder John Madigan appeared in six games with the New Jersey Pride, tallying three goals and three assists.
Defenseman Tom Fallon started two games for the Cannons but was injured and was
unable to play the rest of the season.
