Wayne State senior defenseman Dan Iliakis (Scarborough, Ont./Georgetown Raiders) was named the College Hockey America Defensive Player of the Week for his contributions in the Warriors' 5-4 victory at No. 12 Cornell on Saturday.
Iliakis had a goal and an assist in the game, both on the power play. He scored early in the second period to put Wayne State ahead, 4-2, and assisted on Mark Nebus' game-winning power-play goal midway through the final period.
Among defensemen, Iliakis leads the team and is tied-for-second in the league with eight points this season.
Wayne State returns home this weekend (Dec. 1-2) to face conference rival Bemidji State. Both games are scheduled for 7:05 p.m., and tickets are available by calling 1-866-WSU-TIKS.
