Mavs suffer first loss of season at Miami

OXFORD, Ohio (http://gomavs.unomaha.edu) - The University of Nebraska-Omaha hockey team suffered it first loss of the season, falling to No. 2 Miami, 7-2, in a Central Collegiate Hockey Association contest, Friday night at Steve Cady Arena.
The Redhawks (5-0, 3-0 CCHA) struck first with a short-handed goal, as Justin Mercier beat UNO goalie Jeremie Dupont at the 18:23 mark of the first period.
The Mavericks (1-1, 0-1 CCHA) took the goal back early in the second period on a power play, with Mick Lawrence scoring his third goal of the young season at 1:27. Bryan Marshall picked up the lone assist, his fifth in two games. But Mercier took the goal right back, scoring at the 2:19 mark, sparking a three-goal outburst in a span of just over four minutes by Miami, making the score 4-1. Dan Charleston cut the deficit back to two, scoring his second of the season at 15:19, with Mike Phillippi and Tomas Klempa each notching his first assist.
