Freshmen Brandon Wong (Victoria, B.C.) and Jordan Zitoun (Irving, Texas) registered their first collegiate goals, but the Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team dropped a 4-2 decision to No. 6 ranked University of North Dakota on Saturday night in Grand Forks, N.D.
The Fighting Sioux (2-0) opened the scoring at 6:37 on a goal from Jonathan Toews. Ryan Duncan added an unassisted goal at 11:28 to close out the first period scoring.
Quinnipiac (0-2) scored the only goal of the second period. Zitoun took the puck out from the Bobcats end and carried it the length of the ice. He split two North Dakota defensemen at the Fighting Sioux blue line before slipping a low shot under goalie Philippe Lamoureux at the 5:12 mark.
Toews restored the two-goal lead with an unassisted goal 1:04 into the final frame. He capped off the hat trick with a marker at 14:12 of the third period.
Wong (Victoria, B.C.) closed the scoring at the 19:32 mark with a power play goal. Jamie Bates (Toronto, Ont.) and Dan Henningson (Edmonton, Alberta) assisted on the goal.

Sophomore goalie Bud Fisher (Peterborough, Ont.) turned away 33 shots on the evening for the Bobcats.
The Bobcats are back in action on Friday night for their home opener against Robert Morris at the Northford Ice Pavilion. Quinnipiac and RMU then conclude their two-game weekend series on Saturday night. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. both evenings.
