Dartmouth men's hockey player David Jones was awarded ECAC Hockey League Player of the Week honors. It is the first award for him this season and for his career.
Jones (North Vancouver, B.C.) scored four points on the weekend helping Dartmouth to its first-ever ECAC hockey title and the school's first title in 26 seasons.
The sophomore recorded three points in a 5-2 win over Clarkson on Friday and assisted on a goal in a 3-0 win over St. Lawrence on Saturday. The three goals scored on Friday night marked his first collegiate hat trick. He had five shots on goal for the two games and was +3 for the weekend. With his four points in the two games he became Dartmouth's top scorer for the season with a career-high 32 points.
Jones leads the team in goals with 16 and has 16 assists. He finished the regular season third in the league in scoring and was second in goal scoring.
Goalie Mike Devine (Orchard Park, N.Y.) was named to the honor roll for the fifth time this season. The netminder earned a 1.00 GAA and a .955 save percentage in the two wins over the weekend. He allowed just two goals as he recorded his second shutout of the season.
The Big Green will go into the ECACHL playoffs as the no. 1 seed. Dartmouth will host the lowest seeded team in the quarterfinals which begin March 10.
