Five CCHA alumni have been selected as American Hockey League All-Stars and will play in the 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic, held February 13-14 at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H.
Former Michigan standout Mike Cammalleri, a forward for the Manchester Monarchs, is the lone CCHA representative on the Canadian team. Cammalleri, who played for the Wolverines from 2000-02, has been among the AHL's scoring leaders all season. Currently, Cammalleri has 28 goals and 61 points through 42 games.
CCHA alumni Andy Hilbert (Michigan), Ryan Kessler (Ohio State), Andrew Hutchinson (Michigan State) and Ryan Miller (Michigan State) will play for PlanetUSA; the all-star squad is comprised of European and American-born players. The 2001 Hobey Baker Award winner, Miller, was the Top Goaltender at last year's AHL All-Star Skills Competition.
Cammalleri was voted a starter by AHL fans, who determined the starting lineup via on-line balloting at theahl.com. A committee of AHL coaches selected Hilbert, Hutchinson, Kessler, Miller and the remainder of the all-star rosters.
Former Spartan defenseman Andrew Hutchinson won the 2004 Calder Cup with the Milwaukee Admirals.
