Still Unanimous: Porter Maintains Wide Margin In Hobey Watch

BC's Gerbe takes sole possession of second

Michigan senior forward Kevin Porter continues to produce points, his No. 1 Wolverines continue to produce wins and the CSTV Hobey Baker Watch panel continues to produce a unanimous leader.

 

The Wolverines' captain once again received every single first-place vote in the CSTV.com Hobey Baker Watch, marking his sixth straight week as the uncontested choice, for a total of 55 points. Boston College junior forward Nathan Gerbe took sole possession of second place, edging out Miami University senior forward Ryan Jones.

 

Porter scored a goal in each of Michigan's wins over Notre Dame this weekend, a 3-2 win on Friday at Yost Arena and a 5-1 win on Saturday at the Palace of Auburn Hills. The pair of scores gave him an NCAA-best total of 22 goals to go with his 17 assists for a total of 39 points in 24 games.

Gerbe received a total of 27 points in this week's voting. Gerbe recorded a pair of assists Friday in the No. 8 Eagles' 5-4 win at UMass-Lowell on Friday before having a nine-game point streak snapped in a 2-2 tie with Boston University on Saturday. Gerbe remains the national leader in scoring average, with 18 goals and 18 assists in 21 games for 1.71 points-per-game.

Jones received a total of 25 points in this week's voting. The RedHawks' captain scored a goal in No. 2 Miami's 6-1 win over Lake Superior State on Friday, then scored another goal and added an assist against the Lakers in Saturday's 5-0 win. Jones has 21 goals and 12 assists in 26 games this season, and leads the nation in game-winning goals with seven.

Rounding out the Hobey Watch this week are Colorado College junior forward Chad Rau, Denver senior goaltender Peter Mannino, Michigan senior forward Chad Kolarik, Colorado College freshman goaltender Richard Bachman, St. Cloud State sophomore forward Ryan Lasch, Michigan junior goaltender Billy Sauer and a 10th-place tie between senior forwards J.T. Wyman of Dartmouth and Bryan Marshall of Nebraska-Omaha.
