RedHawks sweep series with 5-0 win

LSSU returns home to face Buckeyes

OXFORD, Ohio - No. 2-ranked Miami continued to show its offensive dominance and defeated Lake Superior State 5-0 Saturday to sweep the Central Collegiate Hockey Association series.

The RedHawks (23-3-0 overall, 15-3-0 CCHA), who average more than four goals per game, spread their scoring among five players. Alex Martinez and Ryan Jones scored in the first period, and Nino Musitello made it 3-0 in the second period. Pat Cannone and Carter Camper tallied power-play goals in the third. Cannone's scored during a 5-on-3 advantage.

LSSU goaltender Brian Mahoney-Wilson totaled 26 saves. Jeff Zatkoff stopped all 18 shots on goal to earn the shutout victory.

The Lakers were 0-for-7 on the power play, while the RedHawks were 2-for-9.

LSSU (3-15-4 overall, 1-12-3 CCHA) returns home to play host to Ohio State next weekend.
