College Station, TX (UWIRE) -- Texas A&M gymnastics team dominates at nationals
The Texas A&M women's gymnastics team won the overall National Championship over the weekend at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C. Aggie Candice Deroche was the overall individual national champion, and also won the gold medal on the uneven bars. Jackie Barrett, who placed fourth in the overall competition, took fourth place in the uneven bars and fifth place in the floor exercise. Aggie men's team member Adam Dean placed ninth in the high bar, eighth in floor exercise, second on the parallel bars and was 12th in the All-Around men's individual competition. For the women, their win was a perfect defense of the national title they won a year ago. Fifty teams competed in the event, including Texas, Texas Tech, Baylor, North Carolina, Purdue, Penn State and others. The finals consisted of the top eight teams.
A&M to host 2008 tennis Big 12 Championship
The Texas A&M tennis program will host the 2008 Big 12 Championships on Thursday through Sunday at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center. The men will take on Texas Tech Friday at 3 p.m. while the women earned a first-round bye and will play Friday at 6 p.m.
