(Marietta, Ohio): Clarion University's 2008 Men's Golf Team got its season underway at the Ohio Valley Invitational on September 6-7 and finished 6th out of 18 teams.

Clarion, under the direction of first year head coach Marty Rinker, traveled to Marietta Country Club over the weekend to play the par 70 course. When the dust settled Ohio Valley won the event with a 36-hole score of 572, Potomac State was second with a 583, IUP was third at 587, Charleston fourth with a 695, West Liberty fifth with a 605 and Clarion sixth at 310.

Clarion's top golfer was junior Mike DeAngelo (New Castle - Shenango) who fired a 75, 73 for a total of 148 and finished in 12th place.Also placing was freshman Ross Pringle (Titusville) who ended 18th with a 76, 73 - 149, Jared Schmader (So. Cooperstown - Maplewood) who was 43rd with a 79, 77 - 156, Nick Brucker (Sr. Apollo - Kiski) placed 47th with a 78, 79 - 157, and Justin Cameron (Sr. Punxsutawney) was 61st with an 80, 83 - 163.

Next up for the Golden Eagles will be the Hal Hansen Invitational at Clarion Oaks on September 14-15.
