Ohio State's Zach Sebert Qualifies for U.S. Amateur Championship
Two Buckeyes will join the senior as alternates Aug. 20-26

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Zach Sebert, who is entering his senior season as a member of the Ohio State men's golf team, qualified for the 107th U.S. Amateur Championship to be held Aug. 20-26 at the Olympic Club in San Francisco. Incoming Buckeye freshman Bo Hoag and junior-to-be Kevin Grabeman are both alternates for the event as well.
Sebert, a native of Grove City, Ohio, fired rounds of 67 and 71 to finish second with a score of 138 at the High Lands Golf Course qualifying site in Pataskala, Ohio, Aug. 6-7. Sebert competed in 17 rounds his junior season at Ohio State with a 76.5 stroke average. Earlier this summer, he won the Mid-Ohio Invitational with rounds of 66-62--128 to break the tournament scoring record by seven strokes.
Grabeman, from Springboro, Ohio, also shot a total 138 at his qualifying site at Dayton Country Club to earn an alternate spot for the event. Upper Arlington-native Hoag competed at the Pataskala site and finished with 140 to become a tournament alternate.
Grabeman played in 10 rounds during the 2006-07 Buckeye season and had a stroke average of 77.7. Hoag tied for 27th at the Rolex Tournament of Champions hosted by the American Junior Golf Association at The Ohio State University's Scarlet Course, July 2-6.
The U.S. Amateur Championship includes 312 players who qualify from various sites throughout the nation. The field will compete in two rounds of stroke play Aug. 20-21, with the top 64 advancing to match play Aug. 22-26.
