Cheney Slips With Third Round 80

MOSES LAKE, Wash. - Gonzaga University junior Derek Cheney skied to a third-round 80 Thursday to drop into a tie for 42nd in the 82nd Washington State Golf Association Men's Amateur Championship at The Links at Moses Pointe.

The native of Richland, who made the cut with a second-round 70 Wednesday, has a 54-hole total of 229 heading into Friday's final round.

Richard Lee of Covington blitzed the course for a 62 Thursday to overtake 36-hole leader Jarin Todd of Woodinville. Lee, who had a 66 in Tuesday's opening round and a 74 Wednesday, is at 14-under par 202. He holds a 5-stroke lead over Todd, who shot a 74 Thursday and is at 207.

The course continues to be a challenge as only seven players are under par through 54 holes and two others are at even par.
