The Johnnies went into Thursday's play with an 11-stroke lead over Ohio Wesleyan, who fell to third place after a third round team score of 307 (19-over-par). Clinton Dammann led St. John's in round three with an even-par 72, helping him to hang on to the top spot on the individual leader board with a 1-under-par 215.

Rhodes College, which led the field after the first round and sat at third place after the second, shot a 35-over-par dropping them to ninth place on the leader board. Between its players,
