Miami Golfers Finish Second at Wolf Run Intercollegiate
Every RedHawk Placed Among the Top 30
April 16, 2007
ZIONSVILLE, Ind.--Behind one of the best rounds of the day, Miami University's golf team posted a second-place finish among the 14-team field at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate on Monday afternoon. Although excessive wind kept scores high, Miami bested its nearest competition by 13 strokes for the tournament.
It marked the best finish by a Miami team since a second-place tie at the Bradford Creek Intercollegiate in March 2005. The RedHawks finished 18 strokes behind tournament winner Akron. The event was shortened to 36 holes due to poor weather conditions Saturday through Sunday with 18 holes played Sunday and the remaining 18 holes completed Monday.
Every RedHawk finished among the top 30 with sophomore Ben Bastel tying for sixth place at 16-over par 158. Sophomore Aaron Crist tied for 13th place, while sophomore Ben Wood tied for 16th place. Senior Joshua Dean shot the low round of the tournament for the RedHawks on Tuesday, carding a 76, and finished in a tie for 24th place. Freshman Andrew Aseltine finished in a tie for 30th place.
Miami is off until competing in the FirstEnergy Intercollegiate April 28-28. The FirstEnergy Intercollegiate will be the RedHawks' final tune-up before competing in the Mid-American Conference Championships May 3-5.
