Doug Smith shoots final round two-under 70 to grab 12th in individual standings

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Florida A&M Men's Golf Team finished fifth in the 2008 Bethune-Cookman University Spring Invitational after Sunday's final round at the Indigo Lakes Country Club.

The Rattler Golf crew shot 604 for the two-day event, carding a 304 on Sunday in the final round.

Florida Gulf Coast (568) finished first, shooting a 281 on Sunday to overtake first round leader Stetson University (571) which wound up in second. Host Bethune-Cookman (577) and St. John's University of New York (591) finished just ahead of FAMU.

FAMU's Doug Smith shot a two-under 70 on Sunday to finish tied for 12th in the individual standings at 147.

Stanley Wilson (tied for 26th at 153), Wesley Yates (tied for 28th at 154), James Petty (tied for 30th at 155) and Elijah Jackson (tied for 37th at 158) rounded out the Rattler quintet.

FAMU will host its' Spring Invitational this weekend in Tallahassee.
