Stillwater, OK (U-WIRE) -- With the Oklahoma State Cowboys set to play Ohio State in the Alamo Bowl Dec. 29 at 7 p.m., we thought we take one more look at the regular season.
Whether it was junior tailback Vernand Morency celebrating after a touchdown or junior linebacker Lawrence Pinson knocking the ball loose in the victory over Iowa State, the Cowboys tasted success five times in a row to begin the season.
But after the 5-0 start, the Cowboys - led by redshirt freshman quarterback Donovan Woods - soon understood how tough it was to be a rising team in the Big 12 South.
On Oct. 30, the Cowboys played underdog in the Bedlam battle against No. 2 Oklahoma, and lost in a heartbreaking loss after a field goal attempt by freshman kicker Jason Ricks sailed wide left.
On. Nov. 6, the Cowboys jumped out to a 35-17 halftime lead over Texas, only to watch UT senior tailback Cedric Benson and sophomore quarterback Vince Young come alive and become unstoppable.
Even with the losses, the Cowboys ended the regular season 7-4 and are now preparing for a game to prove who the real OSU is when the two teams meet in the Alamo City in 15 days.
