Pocatello, ID (CSTV U-WIRE) -- This week we sat down and had a chat with, junior linebacker, Sterling Mennear of the ISU football team. He likes The Sandlot, C.S. Lewis, and Ben and Jerry's Half Baked ice cream. He is a Pre-Architecture major.

Bengal - What is your favorite food?

Mennear - Mandarin House is on my speed dial.

Bengal - What is your least favorite food?

Mennear - Cow Stomach aka Menudo.

Bengal - What is the worst job you ever had?

Mennear - Selling women's shoes in Dillard's. The old ladies would make me take their shoes on and off for like an hour straight. Their bunions, cracked, and sometimes repulsive feet were pretty disgusting.

Bengal - What was the name of the first football team you played on?

Mennear - The Ross Park Packers. We were 5th and 7th grade champs.

Bengal - Who were some of your football heroes growing up?

Mennear - Casey Oliver. I always wanted to be fast like Casey. He played running back on my brother's team and I loved watching him. Jerry Rice, because he wasn't the fastest or the strongest player, but he had an amazing work ethic that made up for it.

Bengal - What are some of your goals?

Mennear - Graduate from college and go on and get a master's degree in architecture. Eventually get married and have a family.

Bengal - What do you most love about football?

Mennear - The competition is what I love most. Just to be around other athletes and be part of a team as well.

Bengal - What is your most embarrassing football experience?

Mennear - Last week we were watching film in the dome, and I ended up tripping over nothing. Just one of those turf monsters. I was like 20 feet from the nearest player. The most embarrassing part of it was the coach making fun of it in front of the linebacker team.

Bengal - What is your most memorable experience related to playing football?

Mennear - It's probably split between the Kentucky game when I recovered Shack's blocked punt and ran it back for a touchdown in front of about 60,000 or last season at Holt, when Jaret Johnson kicked the winning field goal against Portland St.

Bengal - When you have free time, how do you like to spend it?

Mennear - Mostly just hanging out with family or friends or doing various art projects. Anything outdoors like wakeboarding, hiking, ...ect.

Bengal - What is your dream car?

Mennear - To be practical it would be a 06 Infinity G35 and my Exotic choice would be a Porsche Cayman.

Bengal - Who are the people that have had the most profound influence on your life?

Mennear - Both my mom and my dad. My father has taught me how to work hard and not to accept mediocrity. My mom has taught me to do what is right at all costs.

Bengal - If you could go out with any super model, who would it be?

Mennear - Gisele because... "DANG GENA!"

Bengal - What is it that you notice first when you meet a girl?

Mennear - If they can carry on an intelligent conversation.

Bengal - If you could leave right now and visit anywhere in the world where would you go?

Mennear - I'd like to go to Aruba or back to my mission stomping ground in North Carolina.

Bengal - On the hit T.V. classic, Saved By the Bell, who was your favorite actor?

Mennear - A.C. Slater, it had to be the hair.

Bengal - What's the best vacation you've ever gone on?

Mennear - It's a toss up between last spring break when my family and I went through California and visited Sea World and Disneyland, or the spring break before when a bunch of friends and I drove 24 hours straight to San Carlos, Mexico, aka Mision Eduardo.

Bengal - Have you ever owned a pet?

Mennear - Our house has been a zoo. We've had snakes, lizards, guinea pigs, rabbits, fish, birds, gerbils, hamsters, cats, hedgehogs. Pretty much any animal that my sisters could bring home and then talk my dad into keeping, got to stay.

Bengal - Do you remember the first time you held a girls hand? Who was it?

Mennear - Kristen Long, 9th grade at Irving Junior High.

Bengal - What are some of your pet peeves?

Mennear - Number one, when girls play games. Number two, when people cheat academically.

Bengal - What is your favorite quote?

Mennear - "All that I am, and all that I hope to be, I owe to my angel mother." - Abraham Lincoln.
