Johnson Becomes First Pirate Since 2004 To Take Home All-America Honors

GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina senior RB/RS Chris Johnson was named Honorable Mention All-America by CollegeFootballNews.com (return specialist and running back) and SI.com (return specialist).
The nation's active leader in career- all-purpose yardage and kickoff return yardage, Johnson leads C-USA and ranks 15th in the nation in kickoff return average this season at 28.5 per return. He has set or tied 11 school records as a senior as well as two conference records for kickoff returns and KOR yardage. Johnson owns two of the top three single-game all-purpose yardage performance in the FBS this season.
A native of Orlando, Fla., Johnson racked up on post-season awards this year as he was named first-team All Conference USA kick returner by the leagues head coaches and media members and selected to the second-team as a running back by the coaches. He also made a clean sweep of yearly honors after taking home the C-USA Special Teams Player-of-the-Year award by the leagues head coaches and media members.
Johnson becomes the first Pirate to garner any All-America accolades since Travis Williams' honorable mention selection in 2004 as a punt returner.
