Jefferson Earns All-America Honors
Junior Bear Pascoe was selected the nation's fifth-best tight end.

FRESNO, Calif. - When a college football player leads the nation in a category, it should come as no surprise when they are named to an All-America team. But it is still somewhat surprising that Bulldog sophomore A.J. Jefferson, who didn't start the season as Fresno State's kick return man, was named first-team All-America by Collegefootballnews.com.
Jefferson, the national leader and Bulldog record setting return man, was selected first team the organization announced today. It also rated junior tight end Bear Pascoe as the fifth-best player at his position.
"A.J. Jefferson is a special player," said head coach Pat Hill. "We knew he would be an outstanding player for us but we didn't know he would have such an impact on our special teams. Our special teams units have been outstanding through the years and A.J. certainly was a big part of that success in 2007.
Jefferson, a native of Bakersfield, Calif., leads the NCAA in kickoff return average at 35.8 yard per return, which if it holds will break the Bulldog record for average in a season. Earlier this season he set Fresno State records for most kickoff returns for touchdown for a season and a career. He has two. He also returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown against Nevada and was named the WAC Special Teams Player of the Week three times in 2007.
Pascoe became the first Bulldog tight end ever selected first-team All-WAC. He ranks second on the team in receptions (39), yards (481) and touchdowns (4).
