Mississippi State will make its first bowl appearance since 2000

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Mississippi State will make its first bowl appearance since 2000 against Central Florida at the Liberty Bowl on Dec. 29. The Bulldogs (7-5, 4-4 Southeastern Conference) accepted a bid on Sunday to play the Liberty Bowl for the third time and the first bowl appearance under coach Sylvester Croom. Central Florida (10-3) comes to Memphis after defeating Tulsa 44-25 in the Conference USA championship game. This is the Knights first appearance in the Liberty Bowl.
