BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Taylor Tharp threw for 282 yards and four touchdowns and No. 17 Boise State scored the last 41 points in a 58-14 victory over Idaho on Saturday.

The Broncos' victory set up a showdown for the Western Athletic Conference championship next week at undefeated Hawaii. The Broncos (10-1, 7-0) have a chance to win their sixth consecutive WAC title and maybe earn a second straight Bowl Championship Series bid.

Tharp was 22-of-31 before leaving early in the fourth quarter with the game well in hand. His 58-yard pass to Titus Young midway through the third quarter put the Broncos up 38-14.

Ian Johnson carried 21 times for 109 yards and two scores and the Broncos rolled up 556 total yards in their ninth straight victory over Idaho.

The Vandals (1-10, 0-7) showed some spunk, scoring a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter to cut the Broncos' lead to 17-14.

The Vandals gave up a touchdown in the final minute of the half, then fell apart in the third quarter after fumbling on their opening possession deep in Boise State territory.

Trailing 24-14, the Vandals quickly marched deep into Boise State territory thanks to a 47-yard pass from Nathan Enderle to running back Deonte Jackson. But on the next snap, Enderle fumbled and Broncos defensive end Ryan Winterswyk recovered at the 16.

The game quickly got out of hand.

Boise State tacked on another touchdown minutes later when Tharp tossed a 5-yard TD pass to Austin Pettis, who had eight catches for 139 yards and three TDs.

Idaho managed 346 total yards, but looked confused and outmatched in the second half.

Enderle was 8-of-23 for 182 yards. Jackson, the first Vandal running back to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark since 2003, rushed for 58 yards and a score in the first half. But he didn't get many opportunities in the second and finished with 84 yards on 24 carries.
