Georgia Tech Quarterback Hospitalized With Illness

Sept. 17, 2005

ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia Tech quarterback Reggie Ball was hospitalized Saturday after becoming ill and missed the Yellow Jackets' game against Connecticut.

School spokeswoman Allison George said Ball began feeling sick Friday and was taken to Emory University Hospital for tests the morning of the game against Connecticut. She did not know the nature of his illness.

Ball was being kept at the hospital overnight, George said.

Redshirt freshman Taylor Bennett made his first career start for the No. 16 Yellow Jackets, who were trying for their first 3-0 start since 2001 and only their second in the past 15 years.

Last Saturday, Ball threw for a career-best 320 yards, accounting for all three touchdowns in a 27-21 victory over North Carolina. The junior had started every game of his college career, 27 in a row, before his illness.
