Auburn Football Practice Report

Thursday marked final practice at intramural fields; move to Athletic Complex Friday

Aug. 14, 2008

AUBURN - The Auburn football team practiced for the 13th consecutive day Thursday with a single 80-minute workout on the intramural fields. The Tigers practiced in unseasonably cooler temperatures under sunny skies and were treated to watermelon following practice.

Thursday's practice in shells was in preparation for Saturday's scrimmage, the second of the fall camp. Head football coach Tommy Tuberville explained that the scrimmage holds a lot of importance for the Aug. 30 season opener.

"It was a good day today," Tuberville said. "It was our mental day. We got to spend a lot of time looking at film. We're starting to figure out what we want to do Saturday. It's a big day for players on the bubble in terms getting in the first game and not getting in the first game, especially on special teams and backups. Tomorrow we'll come out here and have a good practice in the morning, with mostly kicking game and walk throughs in the afternoon with the scrimmage Saturday morning."

Auburn opened practice with focus on special teams work, before breaking into individual drills and wrapping up with team drills. Thursday's practice was the last on the intramural fields for the Tigers.

Auburn will have its final edition of two-a-days for the 2008 season on Friday with the first session set for 8:30 a.m. and ending with a 4:30 afternoon workout. The Tigers will move from the intramural fields to the practice fields behind the Auburn Athletic Complex.

Auburn's season opener is Aug. 30 when the Tigers host Louisiana-Monroe at 6 p.m. at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Single-game tickets are available for the Louisiana-Monroe, Southern Miss, Arkansas and Tennessee-Martin home games. To purchase tickets visit www.auburntigers.com or call 800-AUB-1957.
