ULM FOOTBALL PRACTICE REPORT - DAY FOUR

Warhawks add two-minute drill into the mix

Aug. 6, 2007

MONROE, La. --- The ULM Warhawk football team continued to work on position drills and the base offense while adding the two-minute drill to the mix in practice on Monday afternoon.

"I thought our first-team defense did a great job today at stopping drives," ULM football head coach Charlie Weatherbie said. "Our secondary is doing a great job and playing really well for us. The first-team offensive and Kinsmon Lancaster did a great job of executing during the two-minute drills as well."

Monday's practice also marked the return of defensive line coach Manny Michel to the sidelines. Michel sat out the Warhawks' first week of practice while recovering from eye surgery.

Michel was not the only person back in action on Monday. Junior linebacker Chance Payne also returned to the field to get some light work in. No Warhawks sat out Monday's session due to heat despite temperatures reaching the upper 90's at the start of the practice.

ULM concluded the days practice with another challenging conditioning session.

"We will continue to work hard on our conditioning," Weatherbie said. "We will be the best conditioned team on the field. We will also be the most disciplined and least penalized team."

Injury Update: senior offensive lineman Joseph Joseph (back) - medical retirement; junior wide receiver J.J. McCoy (Achilles) - out for season; junior linebacker Chance Payne (knee) - 1-2 weeks; redshirt freshman offensive lineman Doug Stroud (knee) - 6-8 weeks

Next practice - Tuesday, Aug. 7, 4 p.m.

ULM quarterback Kinsmon Lancaster led the first-team offense in two-minute drills on Monday.
