JACKSON, Miss. - Jackson State senior cornerback, Domonique Johnson, has been named to the Phil Steele's 2008 Pre-season All-American team.
Johnson, a 6-2, 200 pound native of Texas City, Texas, was also named a Preseason All-SWAC second team member. Last season he recorded a team high five interceptions with one returned for a touchdown. Johnson finished tied for 20th in the NCAA (FCS) in interceptions and third in the SWAC. He was second in the SWAC in passes defended and recorded a team high 14 pass break ups. Johnson also tallied 22 tackles including 18 solo tackles.
JSU opens the 2008 season on Sunday, Aug. 31 when the Tigers take on the Hampton University Pirates for the MEAC/SWAC Challenge at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, FL. The game will be shown on ESPN2 at 1 pm.
