FSN announced today that it will kick off the 2008 college football season on Thurs., Aug. 28 at 8:00 PM ET/7:00 PM CT with one of the first nationally-televised games of the year as Baylor hosts Wake Forest at Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco, Texas.
"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to have coach Briles' first Baylor game televised nationally," Athletics Director Ian McCaw said. "We appreciate the cooperation of Wake Forest, FSN and the Big 12 in making this a possibility. This is a tremendous opportunity for our football program."
The season-opening game for both schools originally was scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 30, but has been moved to accommodate the national telecast. The non-conference game is part of FSN's exclusive national Big 12 Conference package.
Baylor is coming off a 3-9 record in 2007 and will be making its season debut under new head coach Art Briles. Briles was 34-28 during five years as the head coach at Houston.
Wake Forest was 9-4 in 2007 and concluded its season with a 24-10 win over Connecticut in the Meineke Car Care Bowl. The Demon Deacons have won 20 games over the past two seasons and have been to consecutive bowl games. The Deacons were ACC Champions in 2006 and advanced to the FedEx Orange Bowl.
FSN, the home of Big 12 football, will announce the rest of its 2008 schedule at a later date.
